5 Stars Wow
I got it for a great price and it totally beats the other televisions in theis price range. If you want an affordable hdtv this is the one to get.

5 Stars First Time HDTV Buyer – Samsung Is Now Brand Of Choice
This is my first HDTV purchase. I know I am a little bit late to the game but I’m finally here. I replaced an old 1995 Sony tube. I looked into Sony HDTV’s but they just didn’t appeal to me.

I ordered this TV and I’m amazed at the picture quality. I find myself watching move TV than I ever did. I got a DVR from my cable company and I’m pulling triggers left and right recording shows I want to watch. I am so satisfied.

The picture quality is amazing. The blacks are deep and black and whites are like brand new snow. LOL. Not sure why people are complaining about sound. I guess for those that turn the volume to full in the car and are still not satisfied might find something wrong with the audio but to me it’s just right.

I’m so satisfied I just pulled the trigger on the Samsung LN40A550 HDTV for my living room.

Thanks Amazon for the great pricing and white glove service. Great purchase!

5 Stars So Far, So Good
Just got the TV a few hours ago, and So Far, So Good. The few bad reviews I read mentioned issues with the stand. I had none. Looks great. Sounds great. It has the best simulated surround sound I’ve ever heard from a TV. It still doesn’t compare to true surround sound, but this is for my bedroom so I’m not in a hurry to buy another sound system. I have cable and this thing picks up a few HD channels(Fox, NBC, CBS, ABC, and maybe one or two more) without a cable box. So far, I’m happy as can be about the tv. I’ll update the review if anything negative pops up. As far as the service from Amazon, it was great as usual. I got the tv for $600. It was 750 anywhere else. Free shipping. I ordered it late on a Monday night. It was delivered on Saturday at 330pm. Might have gotten it a day earlier but I always work late on Fridays. UPS shipped it to a company named CEVA in St. Louis. They called me to set up a time to deliver it, then drove over 2 hours south to drop it off.

5 Stars I’m in love with my Samsung LCD 720P TV
this tv is great and it works perfectly. This is my first LCD screen tv and I’m loving it. I got it to because I was getting tired of having a standard definition tv to play my ps3. It looks awsome and the graphics look so much better and crisper. I have no intentions on returning my beautiful tv.

5 Stars WOW!
MY first HDTV. Ordered TV on Thursday, it arrived on Tuesday via CEVA. The whole thing took about 20 minutes for me to set-up. Setting up the stand involved screwing in about 7 screws and I was in business. I picked up a HDTV box with a HDMI port(Comcast) and hooked up to the TV. Pressed the ON button and–WOW!

For those complaints about how long it takes to start up after you hit the power button, I’d say it takes about 3 seconds, if you are that pressed for time you ought to chill out.

The picture is great and the price is right. If you are thinking of purchasing this product, you couldn’t get a better little present for yourself.

5 Stars Shock & Awe
Look at the picture & forget about the price, other reviews mentioned how much this TV cost, I will not. Why? Because, when your focus is to get the best TV out there the price should comes second. To me, this is the one. I watch this TV from about 13 feet away and have a direct TV DVR receiver connected by monster 1000 HDMI cable. Wow!

Here is a double Wow! Get the Panasonic Blue-ray Disc player DMP-BD30 will do and connect it to this TV set by HDMI connection, get the “planet earth” Blue-ray CD and you will experience audio/video Shock & Awe.

I am not bias to Panasonic, in fact the only Panasonic I ever purchased in my life was a panasonic wireless telephone, 6 years old and still going… So I figured the TV would be as durable, so far so good.

Hey, if price is the issue, an average person will keep a good TV set 5 to 7 years. Now divide the cost by the amount of years you think you will keep this TV. Got it?

Au revoir mes amis, I am going to watch TV

4 Stars Very Satisfied Panasonic purchaser!
I researched HDTV’s for over a year and after after careful consideration, I chose the 58″ Panasonic Viera Plasma. I’ve had it for two weeks now and am very very happy with the set (and relieved). A relative has the 60″ Pioneer Elite Kuro and paid $7000 for it. I can honestly say that my Panasonic is really close in picture quality to the Pioneer at more than half the price.

The set up is easy, sound is good and the picture quality is super.

5 Stars Panasonic Viera TH-58PZ800U is AMAZING!!!
I recently purchased the panasonic th58pz800u from amazon for $3019, which I feel is very reasonable (The price has indeed fluctuated between $2899 and $3799 on amazon during the time I was shopping for it). Once ordered, the television was delivered in 3 business days (I’m in CA). Although the amazon website said it would be delivered “white glove”, the delivery persons did not have that information. However, when we let them know that’s what we were expecting, they willingly obliged by unpacking the t.v., placing it on it’s stand, turned it on and left with all the packing materials. Pretty nice! Before purchasing this t.v. which I waited for a while before it was even available, I was considering the Pioneer pdp6020fd, which in my mind is the only other comparable plasma set, image quality and features wise. I opted for a plasma because I felt that it had the superior picture (contrast, colors, sharpness) over all the nicer lcd screens available (120hz sony xbr, samsung, toshiba) particularly when viewing lots of full-range motion (sports and movies), the panasonic and pioneer plasmas handled the edging the most smoothly. I found the Panasonic set to be very close in image quality with the pioneer but for $1000-$1500 less. I didn’t care for the samsung sets because they generated so much heat. The panasonic and pioneer sets both don’t noticeably change the temperature of a room.

I setup my panasonic with all my sources being piped through my Denon avr2808ci, which upconverts all sources through it’s hdmi out. I have a hd cable box (connected via hdmi), a dvd player (connected via component) and a sony ps3 (connected via hdmi) hooked-up through the denon. The 1080i from the hd cable box looks amazing! The 1080p from the ps3 bluray is flawless and the 480p upconverted from dvd looks surprisingly great as well. In each case, the colors are vibrant and the blacks are so black that the blacks in an image are consistent with the black of the screen when it is turned-off. All in all, I am extremely pleased with my purchase of the panasonic and find it to be the finest television I have owned (The t.v. I replaced was a hd-capable 57″ sony xbr rear projection whose blacks were actually dark gray…I bought this t.v. for $1500 more than the panasonic set 7 years ago).

In my particular setup, I had to make sure that all my hdmi cables were hdmi v1.3 cables otherwise the denon throughput no signal to the television. Monoprice.com had excellent hdmi v1.3 cables for about $13 each. I was able to get a great bdi stand for it from dynamichomedecor.com which I also found to be an excellent resource.

I highly recommend the purchase from amazon.com primarily because of the included “white glove” delivery, just make sure at the time of purchase that it is stated. I know that vanns.com and other reputable places may have slightly lower prices, but for me the “white glove” delivery really made the whole process much easier and sweeter.

5 Stars Don’t assume anything, ask if you’re not sure!!!
Two months ago I bought a 52″ LCD TV (not Panasonic) for my family room, so my grand kids could watch TV and play Xbox & Playstation 3 games. The TV was bought directly from Amazon and the shipping was free. When it got to my house over three weeks later, two men deliverd the TV and put it in my family room. They took it out of the box and set it up and pluged it in to make sure everything worked. (It did) They said the white glove service was on all TV’s from Amazon. On 08/29/2008 I went to Amazon’s web sight and bought my TH-58PZ800U ($2961.99) for my living room and the shipping was free too. My 58″ Panasonic TV was actually bought from a partner company through Amazon, called Buy Now Inc., which still honored the free shipping. When the TV was delivered 09/11/2008 (in very good condition), it was only delivered by one man and it was a side walk delivery only. He saw I was disabled and was nice enough to bring it in through my front door and left it in my living room. I unpacked it and set it up two days later. The TV (140 lbs) comes with a stand and it’s very easy to set up but you will need at least two healthy people and three is even better. I called Amazon and asked why the difference in my type of delivery? They said, All TV items bought directly from Amazon get the white glove type delivery treatment and from partner companies in most cases it will be a side walk delivery only. Both times the trucking company called a day or two ahead, to set up the delivery I strongly recommed you ask what type of delivery you’re getting. I hope this helps?

Now about the TH-58PZ800U Panasonic Plasma TV which I researched for over a month before I bought it. I read all the personal and profesional reviews I could find. I was very lucky to have a major National Electronics store in my area that had a large selection of most of the major brands that made Plasma TV’s. I want to be very honest in this review. Three or four other brands of Plasma TV’s have come a long way and they looked great. I tried to compare apples to apples by comparing only Plasma TV’s because that’s what I wanted for my living room. It was very hard to see a major difference in picture and color in alot of todays Plasma TV’s on display. I narrowed it down to two or three Plasma TV’s in the 58″ to 60″ range. What made the decision for me was: My 58″ Panasonic had a very good picture, colors were excellent, the non glare screen, all the HDMI (4) and other inputs, Panasonics Reputation, Quality and Repair history. I already own a 42″ Panasonic Plasma TV that is 5 years old and it still has a great picture. Last but not least, the sound from the TV speakers is great if you don’t have a home sound system, which I do, so I checked it out and then I hooked it up to my ow home sound system. The remote control is easy to use and the menu, doing the TV set up, is very easy and quick to do. Right now I have no negatives because I’ve only had the TV for 5 days and used it for 3 days. I hope this review has helped in some ways.

5 Stars This TV is very crisp and beautiful
I got this TV b/c cnet seemed to rave about it. I had a TH-50PX600U and that was a nice TV and I’m a big panasonic fan, but this TV I can definitely notice an improvement in quality from my cable HD channels, even though both are from the same 720p signal. In addition, watching Blu-Ray from this is beautiful (I’m using a PS3). I’m really happy with the purchase. One recommendation for anyone owning this TV is to use custom settings and not use the settings that are default.

The rest of the review is copy/pasted from “daarrid” over at avsforum.com

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1056962

However lets remember that the THX mode can be adjusted!!!! Panasonic’s default settings for THX are just wrong. The CNET reviewer, using a completely dark room, adjusted the THX settings considerably upward from their default settings. Just for the sake of example – CNET increased the picture setting from 50 to 100 for their review.

I’d suggest that anyone owning this set start with CNET’s THX settings:

CNET’s THX settings (completely dark room):

Picture: 100

Brightness: 55

Color: 56

Tint: 0

Sharpness: 50

Color Temp: Warm

Cats: Off

Color Man.: Off

MPEG NR: Off

HD Size: Size 2

Black Level: Light

Or try My THX Settings (for a dimly lite room):

THX MODE:

Picture: 95

Brightness: 62

Color: 50

Tint: -8

Sharpness: 50

Color Temp: Normal

Cats: Off

Color Man.: On

MPEG NR: Off

HD Size: Size 2

Black Level: Light

While I use my Custom settings occassionally – tweaking the THX settings are much more important for everyday use. I use THX 90% of the time. The Custom Mode I created, I generally use ONLY for broadcasts made for TV. Remember THX is a movie standard and does not technically apply to TV shows (although some of these TV shows may also look better in THX).

Here are my custom mode settings again (already posted). Use these settings for TV shows and/or movies shown in a bright room:

CUSTOM MODE:

Picture: 85

Brightness: 50

Color: 34

Tint: -7

Sharpness: 50

Color Temp: Normal

Cats: Off

Color Man.: On

MPEG NR: Off

HD Size: Size 2

Black Level: Light

5 Stars Excellent TV, no complaints
I bought this in May 2008 and could not be happier with my decision. If you are condsidering this TV you may also be looking at the 6, 7, or 8 series Samsung LCDs of the same size. I did not find the faster refresh rate worth the money to upgrade to the 6 series, and one feature I like on this TV that the higher series change is the screen protector. This TV has a typical LCD screen, where as the higher level “touch of color” models put a reflective piece in front of it. This is just a matter of opinion, but for day-time viewing there is less glare with this screen.

Picture quality is excellent, I play lots of Xbox 360 and watch lots of movies (DVD, HD-DVD, Blu Ray) in full 1080p and the picture is stunning. The other TV I was considering (similar in size/price) was the 50″ 1080p Plasma from Samsung. When it came down to it I got a better deal on this one and that pushed me to this set, but here is what I considered with the plasma-

Plasma has deeper colors (+)

Uses more power (although it can be calibrated to help) (-)

Plasma has a glass screen=more reflective in daytime viewing (-)

If you are looking for an everyday, anytime use TV, this will be a good choice. If you are a hardcore gamer, have a darker room with no windows/low light, then plasma may be the way to go, and if you want to shell out the extra cash, go for a model with the 120Hz refresh rate, but personally I did not find it worth the money.

The only complaint I have about this TV is the sound- not so great. My wife prefers to just turn on the TV and watch it (not deal with the receiver, just stick with the basics) and she is not bothered by the sound, but I have it hooked up to surround sound (most of you probably will) and therefore I could care less how the stock speakers sound. I will probably be purchasing a smaller version of this same set later on for regular viewing and move the 52″ into a game/movie room, and at that point the TV speakers will be disabled. Just something to keep in mind if you don’t plan on using this set with a surround sound system.

5 Stars Great TV
I chose the LN52A550 becuase it had a non glare screen. The picture is excellent. There is motion blur as with all LCD’s but you have to look for it to notice it on this TV. The 5MS response time helps to minimize the effect. If you have a room with windows this is a great choice.

Amazon’s price was excellent and the shipping company CEVA was on time and made sure everything worked. This is the second TV I have bought from Amazon. Two of my freinds also purchased TV’s from Amazon with no problems.

5 Stars Samsung LCD “It’s AWESOME”
I purchased this TV along with the Samsung Blue Ray DVD player and three of the 1.3 HDMI cables offered via Amazon for a very reasonable price. The TV is AWESOME. I did an extensive research on all similare type LCD TV’s (52 inch) and have found the Samsung 52A550 to be just incredible. The picture is crystal clear and the hookup process was easy. I was worried about the 60hz vs 120hz and have found that I cannot tell the difference. There are some fuzzy images in the backgrounds on various channels but that is more likely the type of camera used and not the TV. When you go to true HD viewing (ie ESPN, HGTV) the picture is beyond words. Either way, HD or Standard viewing, this TV performs. When I used the Blue Ray DVD player. OMG, what a picture. All in all I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend this TV to anybody, espcecially for the price. Also, regarding the glare, there is NONE. I was amazed. As for the white glove dilevery, that was great too. The driver from Pilot Trucking drove to my door, unloaded and unboxed the TV, made sure it worked and took the trash out with him when he left. All in all excellent service. Thanks AMAZON….

1 Star Poor Quality and Customer Service
20 Month old TV picture died (still has sound). No service in San Diego, and no response from authorized repair center after 3 calls. Bad circuit board which seems common if you Google search Samsung TV problems. Samsung service told me I was out of luck. Parts/labor to repair was quoted at over $500 when I finally got a Sears repair man to come out. For a premium quality product like Samsung, they take no pride in quality and have poor customer service. BUY AT YOUR OWN PERIL…..”

5 Stars GREAT TV!!!
i brought mine after reading the reviews here and i couldn’t be happier…everything you guys said was right on point. i’m glad i opted for this over the 46″ 650 model(tooo reflective). i highly recommend this set if you’re looking for a 52″ LCD with a great picture that’s not too expensive.

3 Stars Shiva’s Review
All the HDMI ports on the TV are not working. When I reported the problem, I was told that the TV needs to be shipped to their location at my expense and that it would take upto 3 weeks for the TV to be fixed and returned to me. I was not given the option to return the product and get a replacement.

4 Stars Not too bad
The only issue with this tv is that the image is not good from all angles. If you have it up above you even only a foot or so above eye level the picture is not very good. Especially in dark sceens. I do like all the input features and it works ok for me. I’ve got a 46″ LCD samsung and it is flawless. I figured this would be the same. Not so much.

4 Stars Very Good HD Picture
Very good HD picture, I have two Panasonic Plasmas, and this for its size, is just as good of a picture.

If you are looking for a small HD set, this is it.

5 Stars Great medium size TV
Samsung LN26A450 26-Inch 720p LCD HDTV I have always been a Sony man but this TV has sold me on Samsung! I bought it for the bedroom and it is really a nice good looking TV as well as a great performer. The audio sound is terrific for it’s size and I couldn’t be more satisfied. You can leave the default settings as they are or tweak it to suit yourself because there are so many adjustments (If you want to) The picture is also great and does not leave you wanting for anything. You can’t go wrong on this one and I highly recommend it.

3 Stars Samsung … Ok.
Not a bad product, but the clarity could be better. The picture looks quite grainy when viewing videos from the internet via an S-video cable. Yet to try HDMI. Haven’t tried regular TV cable. Nice finish though. Great delivery by Amazon. Arrived prior to estimated delivery date.
