4 Stars Nuvi 760 aka Jill
Well having had / worked another GPS for a few years this has been a pure pleasure.Very easy to read, its bright in the daytime, auto-dims at night and is very intuitive.Between the written, voice, and visual directions, anyone of which will get you where your going, you can’t go wrong.

I use mine everyday in work to weave my way through all the one-way back streets of downtown Boston, its Great,I love it,and would recommend the nuvi 760 to anyone of my friends or family. And that’s just the navigation part.I’ve only scratched the surface.I’m just now getting into some of the other features /functions, but they appear to be the same easy to navigate and find info.experience that I’ve had so far.Enjoy

Sincerely

Ron from Boston.

4 Stars Garmin 760
I recently purchased the 760 and I really like it. The larger screen is really nice. The blue tooth connectivity works really well, it hooked up with my Blackberry Pearl very easily with no problem at all. Unfortunately, the FM transmitter is just a little weak, consequently there is a little too much background white noise and interference. For the most part the maps are pretty good, but of all the things it has my own home address wrong, it’s about 4 houses off. I downloaded the latest maps and it still didn’t fix the problem. For the most part it gets me where I’m going very nicely. There are a lot of Points of Interest, but it takes just a little digging to get to them unlike my older and much cheaper MIO which floats POIs such as gas stations and hotel icons right across the screen to let you know that they are up ahead. I wish the 760 had this feature, or at least make the POIs more readily accessible. The mounting bracket has a swivel knuckle that works very good which makes the bracket quite sturdy. Over all I like this unit a lot it would be excellent if Garmin made the FM transmitter stronger. I do recommend this unit.

5 Stars very satisfied
this is a beautiful machine, you will never get lost again, you you will feel safe on the road, i took a trip 300 miles away without knowing where i was going, i got there and back without an itch, i strongly recommend it

5 Stars One of the easiest
I have owned other GPS units and this one is by far the easiest to use. It has a very large screen and the interface is really easy to use. I now use it to load audiobooks and music files and the FM interface is great. I have used this for a short time and I traveled through small towns and rural areas and this has been one of the best tools I have had! I would recommend this to anyone who needs an easy to use GPS and one that can be easily updated.

3 Stars Overall good product, but still far from perfect
I’ve had my 760 for a couple of months now and overall I’m happy with it. I like that it will give me traffic information, as well as restaurants, gas stations, etc. It has some features that are available that I don’t really use such as bluetooth, mp3 player and it also allows you to get the voice to play thru your car speakers via an unused FM station frequency.

My biggest gripe with it is the routing. Even though I know my way around Houston pretty well, I use my GPS to get me around heavy traffic to and from work. There are times where it tries to send me on very odd routes or it will frequently tell me to exit off the main freeway to an access road and back up to the freeway for no apparent reason. I have changed the settings from fastest to shortest in the navigation options but that doesn’t help.

I am about to go on a long road trip from Houston to Orlando and I think it will come in real handy but when it comes to city driving, I don’t put a whole lot of faith in it, unfortunately.

One of the things I’m a little confused about, also is the difference (if there IS one) between the software that is installed on the device vs. City Navigator North America which would cost me about $70. If anybody knows if this is worth the expense, I’d certainly appreciate the feedback.

5 Stars Great GPS
I bought the Nuvi 255W for myself, plus the Nuvi 350 for my son, both Nuvi’s are great. I have a radio so didn’t care about having a MP3 player in my Nuvi. The 255 with the wider screen is the way to go.

4 Stars pretty good
pretty good, wish it had a way to cross out specific parts of a route and the voices are a bit weird but overall pretty good

5 Stars just what I needed
After getting lost (again) going to and from a business appointment, I researched GPS devices and then bought the Garmin nüvi 255w. The only negatives: (1) It froze up on the third day or so, but when I cleared/restarted it it didn’t lose any info (that’s a positive). (2) It doesn’t get you exactly to the door when it’s a complex (apartments, schools, etc.), but I hear that may be true of all brands. Positives: It works. The voice is loud, the screen is clear, the directions are accurate. I chose the widescreen because I wanted the qwerty keyboard; I’m not sure if the widescreen matters. So far I haven’t had to buy the plug-in charger or the computer cable, but not including it is an obvious way to keep the price lower and then get more money later. (Call that a negative, too.) But life is better since I bought this thing.

3 Stars ITS ok
I am pleased and disappointed with the unit. Receives satelites well. Better than my 176c. Simple enough to use. My big complaint is you can’t

download a route from computer. when the unit plans a route for you it makes some mistakes. fixing the bizare route can be done but is tedious.

if you insert some favorites you can modify the route to go the way you want to go. This was purchased as an inbetweener till technology improves and we get local info on traffic like google maps

If garmin married Googe maps we would really have something

5 Stars Worth the Wait and Performs as Advertised
A bit of research had me zeroed in on the Garmin 255w for a good entry-level gps system. Reading other consumer reviews though had me somewhat concerned about the audio quality of this unit. And the price was not in my target area.

But then the price became much more attractive and I bought the 255w from Amazon. What a good unit. The item arrived on time. There is no problem whatsoever with the audio (male or female voice). The accuracy at this point is very good. I’m happy to recommend this gps to others. (The price is even lower now!)

4 Stars Simply Amazing
This device is wonderful. It never fails to get me where I need to go. Sometimes it gets confused about where I am but that’s usually only in the beginning. Make sure you give it enough time to acquire satellites if at all possible. I like how you can set Home in the favorites so it only takes a couple of presses instead of a lot of fumbling around to get home. I highly recommend the Garmin nuvi series. Amazon has them for an untouchable price currently. I have no doubt they’ll go quickly. Enjoy.

5 Stars Never lost again!?!
I love my Garmin. I tried it out the other day and found it to be very simple to operate. The map is quite easily interpreted as one is driving down the road. And I actually had to turn the audio to 70% because it was too loud for me. I was considering getting one for my elderly mother and I wanted to try it 1st. She is now getting one for Christmas. It will allow her to have the freedom to go and not get lost in unfamiliar territory. I plan on being much more relaxed during my travels to the mainland and Europe. So, I’m lovin’ it!

3 Stars What street?
I found this product to be mostly good. Some of the things I didn’t expect were the compass and the MPH readout. I did however expect it to say the street names, which it doesn’t. If I had it to do over again I would look for a unit that said what street to turn on.

5 Stars Great Value
I purchased this because of the Europe maps included. We plan to give it a workout in Southern France this summer. So far I’ve been comparing it with my garmin 250W that I purchased Oct 2007. The windshield looks pretty funny with them both mounted there but I have learned a few things too. The two are identical at directions in New England. They speak together most of the time and the displays vary very little. Speaking of “Very little” – I prefer the wide screen size of the 250w in the car because you see more info. I find it a bit easier to read the directions too. HOWEVER – The 250w cost $289 13 months ago with USA maps only. The new 270 cost $159 on Amazon With USA/Europe included . The minute I registered I was offered a free 2009 Garmin Europe update on the 270 for free. Not bad, and it will fit nicely in my shirt pocket in France. I believe that it is discontinued but with a free update it’s a great $159 free shipping deal (I think it was $600 a few years ago). I have to laugh at some of the other reviews. No, it won’t Say the street names/ No it won’t do traffic alerts/No, it wont do bluetooth/ bet it won’t tie your shoes either! If you want those features just pay for a more expensive model. This one is a huge bargain. Works great and won’t break the bank.

4 Stars Garmin Nuvi 270
Pros: Works great, durable (dropped it hard few times with no issues), and great value for price. Been using it in the US, Canada and England. Tons of preloaded locations for restaurants, easy to read and understand. I highly recommend it.

Cons: Not sure if this is unique to Garmin Nuvi 270 but it takes over 30 sec to initialize, not bad but if there was an area where Garmin could improve, it would be to reduce the boot time. Also for editing, cursor that allows it to go to any letter would be a nice feature, rather than just a backspace option.
