3 Stars Great performance with ReadyBoost, but the drive light leaves much to be desired
This is my first SanDisk drive after buying only Lexar for the longest time, but I couldn’t seem to find a good cheap Lexar drive after I bought a new Vista laptop to try out ReadyBoost with. This one happened to be nice and cheap, so I bought it and overall I’ve found it to work well with the feature and as a flash drive.
However, the two star demerit is for the bright orange activity light within the retractable case that just won’t stop shining. Yes, it’s there for activity and it’s reassuring that it’s on. But does it have to be so bright and large in the latch? It’s 1″x2″ of light that’s distracting on the side of a laptop, especially at night when you’re in your room and ready to fall asleep.
Thank goodness for electrical tape to minimize how the light shines. In the next version of this, SanDisk must move to a small LED to indicated activity, because as it is, the light is too bright and annoying to recommend this drive.

I am happy with my purchase. This is the first drive I have owned or used with the u3. I don’t have a problem with it. It isn’t a must have for me yet but right now I like it. If I decide I don’t want it on the drive later then I can uninstall it. 8gb for this price can’t be beat. I would recomend this product to others.

i, like any other intelligent person, do not use vista. i have no use for the U3 crap either, so ran the uninstall on the drive, and moved the 2 files left over to restore its U3 capabilities to a folder somewhere on my computer in case i did find a use for it later. Reformatted the drive so the application partition was gone, it all worked. i attribute the other problems people have been having to an inferior operating system, seeing as how these all worked for me. great drive, great price, works with ps3 in case anyone was interested. no pop-ups (just XP’s ‘new hardware found’ in the tray, unnavoidable/not intrusive) and no software installations (thank god). just plug and use. easy.

3 Stars Great Idea but a bit quirky
When this MP3 player works it is great. But on some of the tunes I downloaded to it, it will either skip to the next tune or shut down. These are all unprotected files so there should not be any DRM issues. If you shut it down then restart it it picks right up where you left off in the sequence of tunes. But if you reset the sequence and want to start at some tune other than the first one, it is slooooow. Some of the images of the player are misleading. Keep in mind that it uses one AAA battery, so it has to be thicker than some other players. But I am using rechargeable NiMH batteries in it and that saves a lot of money. I was not able to attache the little foam pieces to the earbuds.

This is a cheap player and im not talking about price. The quality of these players has gone down and wasen’t very high to start with so beware of what you are buying. Is it cheeper to buy this and have it die within a day/month or just get an IPOD/Zune that will last you years and has awesome customer support. I will go with IPOD/Zune. This player is finally what drove me into getting an IPOD. I lost my music to many times to poorly designed, low quality players, enough is enough. All the problems listed here are the same problems I have experienced with this and nearly every sandisk player. It takes forever to copy songs, freezes, battary may charge when you plug it in or it may flake out within seconds after saying it’s charged and you unplug it, it says songs are copied when they are not, the play order of songs is retarded, the controls are cheap and unresponcive, and this device is over all just garbage. AVOID!
5 Stars Works Great for Me
I was shopping for MP3 players for my wife and I. We are new to this technology. After researching a great many players, including those with video capabilities, we decided on the Sansa m250. We would have like a player with greater (than 2 Gb) capacity, but settled on this one for a number of reasons.
First was the fact that it uses an AAA battery, instead of a proprietary one. I found on-line videos and instructions about replacing the battery in i-Pods models, Zune’s, and several others. Besides the relatively high costs of such batteries and tools one should have to replace the battery, the operations are so intricate and prone to risk of damage to the units, that we were dissuaded from buying a model with internal, rechargeable batteries.
Second was the price: less than $30 and with free shipping!
Third was the many positive reviews posted here.
I accidentally damaged the mini-CD that contained the manual when I was trying to open the #!%*$#@^ clamshell packaging. I went on line to Sandisk and tried to find the manual but didn’t have any luck. I sent an e-mail asking for the url to download it. The first reply was one of those “knowledgebase” auto-replies that didn’t address the specifics of my request and didn’t help. I sent another request to customer service asking for a human to read my message. I promptly received a reply with the correct information and was able to download the manual. Great customer service is a forth reason to strongly consider this model if it meets your needs.
The player, including the radio, works great, and it was easy for me to figure out its operation and change settings even though I’m a novice and did not have a manual. The Quick-Start guide was adequate to get me started.
A last note is that this model apparently is discontinued. At least I could not find it listed in Sandisk’s on-line store or any of their links but I did find some information on it on their website by doing a Google search. So if you want one, buy it sooner rather than later.
5 Stars Very simple to use mp3 player
The operation of this player is very straight forward. You don’t really even need a user guide to figure it out because everything is intuitive and the menu options are clear. Pop in a AAA battery, push power to turn it on, and menu to select a mode. It doesn’t get any harder from there. Simply plug in the USB cable to connect it to your computer and drag and drop songs to the drive. When the songs are done loading just unplug it and you’re ready to play.
This isn’t the highest quality player I’ve had – it does feel sort of fragile in its light plastic case – but unless you’re going to be dropping it or throwing it around I don’t see a problem. And for the price it seems to be a good deal.

I bought this to see if I would like all of the MP3 things. Well, this little player is great for someone starting out with them, although I can’t figure out how to delete files. But, this has everything the more expensive 2 GB players have (Except the video, but for $30.00, you can’t go wrong)Now the only problem I have is how to transfer the files to another player that I bought that has more space and video.
