I asked some people who use a lot of re-chargeable batteries what was the best choice. Most said to go with eneloop, and one person was emphatic: stick with something that says “Pre-Charged”, no matter what numbers they throw at you.
They were right — these batteries hold a charge for as long regular disposables. Look no further, these are the ones you want.

5 Stars Sanyo Eneloop AA batteries
This product is simply amazing. I’ve taken over 1 hour of video on my canon sx110 is and over 100 photos and it’s still at almost full charge. I’ve taken 200+ photos on my sony dsc-w1 and it’s still got half battery left. I just hope that the batterylife itself will last long unlike other rechargable batteries…

4 Stars Good for emergency recharges
I’m a heavy Kindle user and I tend to page backwards and forwards a lot, which eats up battery life. So I wanted a lightweight way of carrying some emergency power for long foreign trips. The Gomadic AA charger has worked well for me.
The main weakness is that with standard AAs it is slow to charge the Kindle above 80%. It will take my Kindle from flat to 80% in about an hour, but it takes another six hours to register as 100%. However it does let you read and charge at the same time.
A secondary minor weakness is that the charging tip fits slightly loosely into the Kindle. So you need to be careful to make sure it is fully inserted and stays fully inserted.
Despite those limits, I have been pretty happy. It was a great relief to be able to recharge my Kindle off AAs when none of my power adapters would fit into the hotel power outlets. (Yikes.)
I also own a spare Kindle battery. The main drawback there is that I need to remember to keep it charged. The nice thing about AA batteries is they have a long shelf life and they are almost universally available. So I have ended up carrying the Gomadic charger rather than my spare Kindle battery. I find it reassuring to know that as long as I can find AA batteries I can keep reading!
2 Stars Battery compartment too small
Be wary! If you intend to use rechargeable batteries, they won’t fit. Alkalines do work ok. When I complained to Gomadic, they stated that battery manufacturers have increased the diameter of their batteries by a few thoudandths of an inch in order to increase capacity. The design of the compartment for this device is so tight that the additional few thousandths of an inch multiplied by four makes the battery holder about .020 inch too small.
Gomadic stated an intention to increase the size of the battery compartment sometime in the future.

For the price, I don’t think you’ll find a better product. Sounds great…gets loud enough to nicely fill a room. Also charges the IPod (well, it charges our two Nano 3Gs), so it’s nice to bring on vacation and not need a laptop or other charger for the Ipod.

I have a set of the Bose brand speakers which obviously have better sound. However, for the price of this product, the quality of the sound is wonderful. It is battery operated and small in size which makes it very convienent for travel. It is great to use by the pool, bedroom, or office.
4 Stars Good little system, but why the price increase?
I bought this to use at work and have not been disappointed at all in the sound quality. It plays the bass notes well for a system of this size and I haven’t noticed distortion when I’ve turned it up.
The great news is that it works with the 2nd generation iPod Touch, which was a nice surprise when I upgraded my Touch.
The bad news is that it won’t work with the 3rd generation iPhone.
The realy bad news is that Amazon charged me only $33.52 in September when I originally bought it. I returned today to buy a second one only to see the price inflated by $22, quite a price increase! I’ll look elsewhere for one or wait til the price is lowered.
